What would you do if you were a man living a gay lifestyle and discovered you liked women?

In a unique reversal of the usual "coming out" story, a man living a gay lifestyle finds himself increasingly attracted to women.

At thirty-seven, Jerry Seivers has never been with a woman. Aside from a brief childhood crush on a neighbor girl - quickly quashed by his misogynistic father - he has never felt drawn to the opposite sex. He now resides securely within a circle of gay friends which include his partner of the last eight years, a real estate broker named Tom Martin.

His growing friendship with his female martial arts instructor challenges everything Jerry believes about himself, but when he meets Alyssa Guisti, owner of an unjolly green mansion he's been hired to renovate, Jerry's carefully constructed gay world comes undone.

"Special Note from the Author*

My former agent told me "This is a novel written for no one gays will be offended and straights won't be interested." I hope she's wrong. I believe this is a novel for anyone who's discovered something unexpected about themselves, and for anyone who simply enjoys a good story and interesting, intelligent, sympathetic characters. This is not a "MM" novel; if anything, it is a straight romance, arrived at through an unconventional route. Perhaps one reviewer put it best "It's a testament to how well the author portrays his characters that you focus more on them than the clever handling of Jerry's reverse coming-out, which becomes an added bonus!"

I was first attracted to this book because it promised to discuss a gay man's discovery of women, exactly the opposite of "coming out." I thought, "This looks interesting. Let's see how the authors handles it."
I was not disappointed. Quite the contrary, in fact, author Lawrence Ambrose, handles the subject deftly and with amazing insight into Jerry's thought processes as he goes through this transformation. An added bonus, for me, was going along with Jerry as he rehabs some relics of houses and an ancient Mustang car, rediscovers his love of basketball, and joins a martial arts class. I found his experiences as a landlord with difficult tenants to be amusing, as I have "been there, done that." The author seems to have a wide knowledge of many things, including music, as he could name and describe a wide variety of pieces, from Bach to Pucinni to country rock. I loved the author's command of the language, as well. He didn't overwhelm me with adjectives, phrases and clauses, but worked them in seamlessly, now and then using a word, new to me, in such as way that I grasped the meaning immediately, without having to stop and check my dictionary.
Ambrose has developed an an interesting character study of complex relationships while keeping me entertained and amused. Recommended.

Ah, yes, heaven forbid a person be bisexual. Your agent was right, lady; it is offensive. You're not as clever as you think.
A really good story. How much of what we believe about ourselves actually comes from other people? A unique, clever idea behind a well-written, engaging story about following your heart. I found this book inspiring with a beautiful message and anyone who enjoys the work of Paulo Coehlo will like this book. The main characters are interesting and easy to relate to. As well as the question of our sexuality, this book also explores other forms of love, friendship, mistakes and forgiveness.

I highly recommend this book for anyone who enjoys, not only a good romance but also a book that makes you think.
This was an unexpectedly enjoyable read - unexpected because, for me, the best part was that the characters were so well drawn, and their interactions so believable, that they nearly eclipsed the "reverse coming out" aspect of the story. That aspect is the "hook," and to my knowledge it's unique, and it's handled well. But it's a testament to how well the author portrays his characters that you focus more on them; the clever handling of Jerry's reverse coming-out becomes an added bonus!

Very highly recommended!
A previous reviewer was right. This is a story about the journey of the romance. Not their sexual proclivities. Refreshing.
