What, exactly, is a footman to do when he glances through an open door and sees the daughter of the Earl of Astonbury naked, pleasuring herself? Stephen Alistair chooses the path of gentlemanly retreat, but it's too late. The Lady Isobel has seen him. There's no denying the fire she ignites within his body, but he rebuffs her flirtations. He's sworn he will never again be some rich woman's plaything.
Lady Isobel Rochester, unwed and unhappy, languishes in boredom and loneliness at her family's estate in Northumberland. A few youthful indiscretions have edged her out of most of high society, at least as far as marriage is concerned, and the only suitable candidate her father has found who is willing to overlook her reputation is a man she despises. Isobel amuses herself by flirting with utterly unsuitable men, most recently the handsome new footman. She sees the burning desire in his eyes when he catches her pleasuring herself, but, shockingly, he refuses her invitation to come to her bed.
When Stephen and Isobel are stranded in a storm, the barriers between mistress and servant begin to break down. Alone, isolated from the strictures of the society in which they live, Stephen and Isobel are free to cast off their inhibitions and be who they truly want to be. Need takes hold, and in the fury of the storm, they find exquisite passion in one another's arms. But what will happen when the light of day breaks and the real world makes itself known again?
La Belle Epoque Series
Great Britain, 1905. King Edward is on the throne, and the world is knowing a time of peace and progress unlike ever before. It is a time of hope and optimism, where society is changing for the better, and the future looks bright. History will come to call this time as La Belle Époque, the Beautiful Time.
In Northumberland, there lies Brackenridge Park, the county seat of the Earl of Astonbury. Though on the surface, it seems like any other genteel country manor, lust and passion simmer below the shiny silver surface, as the men and women who live and work there celebrate the beauty of life in a decidedly carnal fashion.

**For mature audiences only, 18+! This novel contains content that is meant for mature readers only!**
Another fantastic series by Jenycka Wolfe! She's become one of my favorite guilty pleasures authors of all time. Of course the Wildlanders series will always be my favorite, this is a definite second!
Alistair was sweet and adorable trying his best to be a Footman and not sex play-thing but Isobel wants Alistair and she knows there is a part of Alistair that wants her too. As with every Jenycka Wolfe novel the sex was hot. The characters were fun yet relatable in a way that I connected with them easily.
Can't wait for a sequel!
This was a fun book to read. Well written with lots of period detail and really fresh and with a touch of the ‘Lady Chatterley’s’ about it. Set in the early 20th Century, it progresses quite nicely from the early scene setting to the heroine’s seduction of her footman when they get caught in a heavy storm and are forced to share a remote hut for a day.
Erotica of this period is quite rare, so this first of a series was a refreshing dip into a new setting, pre first world war, so there’s a sense of propriety broken running through it as the strict, though often disregarded in secret moralistic veneer of the earlier Victorian period is giving way to the following Edwardian era of music halls and a slightly bawdier outlook on life.
If you like period erotica, and want a nice hours plus read to titillate the mi ind, then give this a try, I don’t think you’ll be disappointed.
The story was a well paced seduction. The love scenes explicit and done with care. This is a classic story of a Lady who wants to explore life to the fullest.
